Don't Cha Wish Your Girlfriend Was Hot Like Me!

In case you didn’t hear, Republica was given the opportunity to host the world famous Pussycat Dolls in their courtyard on Wednesday March 4th 2020 as their first stop in their Australia reunion.

Now that’s great St Kilda live music!

The Fox 101.9 had given lucky listeners the chance to win tickets to see this amazing live concert at St Kilda Sea Baths.

But for those of you that didn’t get to see them strut their stuff across stage, we can guarantee, they did not disappoint.

Originally the Pussycat Dolls were due to perform on Captain Baxter’s beachside rooftop, AKA #theworldfamousrooftop, but due to Melbourne’s glorious weather mood swings, they had to relocate down to Republica’s iconic St Kilda beer garden (courtyard), to shelter from the potential rain. In the end, the weather was great.

Resident DJ Rojdar opened the evening spinning tracks to get the audience pumped up, well more than they already were, playing tunes from across the decade.

Ash London MC’d the event, before the Pussycat Dolls graced the stage at 5pm with one of their number top songs “Buttons”, as they well and truly brought the heat, blowing everyone away with their jaw dropping opening live performance.

After 10 years of absence, the girl group return with their long-awaited comeback single ‘React’, which we had the pleasure of witnessing live. Even after the groups 10 year break, it was like nothing had changed, and we had all been transported back to 2004 when two-toned sunglasses were in fashion and Usher was at the top of the charts.

Childhood dreams were being fulfilled left, right and centre, as jaws were lowering closer and closer to the ground each song they sang. It was like we were all 18 again.

They closed the evening with their all-time number 1 hit “Don’t Cha”, which had everyone singing their hearts out, trying to resist the urge to jump on stage and join in with their choreography. Not to mention, trying to fight back the tears that for some reason, just wouldn’t stop flowing.

If you missed their intimate St Kilda live music performance, then not to worry, they will headlining the ‘SO POP’ 2020 Australia Tour in Melbourne on April 30.

It’s safe to say that after seeing the Pussycat Dolls live, we will be heading straight to dance class and singing lessons ready for our 2021 debut.

If you are looking for something to do in St Kilda, come and check out the live music and DJ’s at Republica St Kilda, Melbourne’s famous beachside bar and restaurant.
