Graced by the Queen of Pop

If you didn’t already know, we had the pleasure of hosting the one and only Lizzo at Encore St Kilda on Monday the 13th January 2020.

All thanks to The Fox 101.9, who organised the event and were giving away tickets to lucky listeners of their radio station weeks prior to event.

The St Kilda live music scene is still rocking from one of Melbourne’s best performances.

Lizzo was touring around Australia throughout January 2020 where she performed at FOMO festival, as well as an additional performance at Forum Melbourne (which sold out in minutes), oh, and Encore St Kilda of course!

The setup for the concert involved Encore being covered in black drapes to block out all sun, and make it as intimate as possible. If you’ve ever been to Encore St Kilda before, we’re sure you can imagine what an amazing atmosphere this was. This adaptability makes Encore Melbourne’s leading function and event centre. The staging, acoustics, lighting where up to the standard of this World class artist.

The event night started out with pre-party shenanigans in Republica’s courtyard, where the lucky ticket holders got in the mood with live music and drinks from the outside St Kilda bar. The Fox 101.9 had also arranged Zoos Victoria to be there for donations to support the Bushfire Wildlife Relief Fund.

Republica made an additional donation on the night and we are all concerned about the impact of the fires on our wildlife.

Guests then made their way into Encore through the beachfront entrance, with everyone rushing straight to the front of the stage to get as close to the action as possible. It was a live music performance on a grand scale.

Ash London MC’d the event, before Lizzo graced the stage at 6.30pm with her current number 1 hit “Good As Hell”, blowing everyone away with her stage presence.

She continued to perform for the next half an hour with her setlist also consisting of “Cuz I Love You”, “Truth Hurts”, “Juice” and “Boys”, which she sang as an additional song because she loved the event guests so much!

Her backup dancers and DJ were also phenomenal, making the entire audience absolutely speechless.

It was a concert on the beach like St Kilda hasn’t seen before. The St Kilda function and event venue was transformed and everyone enjoyed the amazing atmosphere.

The night finished off with Melbourne’s VIP’s heading up to Captain Baxter’s Riviera Rooftop to indulge in Grey Goose cocktails and spectacular views of St Kilda Beach, Port Phillip Bay and Melbourne. Fox 101.9 also arranged Yo Mafia to play in Republica beachside courtyard which had people dancing the night away to her incredible remixes.

If there’s anything you can take from this post, it’s that you all need to see Lizzo live. NOW!
