The Biggest Celebration of Summer!

In case you’ve been living under a rock, we celebrated the 40th anniversary of St Kilda Festival on Sunday 9th February 2020, which routinely attracts over 400,000 attendees.

The streets of St Kilda are closed to traffic when the pick of the nation’s best musicians play over multiple stages, while people are entertained with a vast range of performances, workshops, kids’ entertainment, sport, dance, carnival rides, food and drinks, markets, shopping and a whole lot more.

Every year we open our doors to join in Australia’s biggest FREE celebration of summer, with live music, a sea breeze and good vibes. This is the best St Kilda event of the year.

People flood in from the streets of St Kilda, as it becomes one of the biggest Festivals in Australia, right here in St Kilda.

For the best vantage point for St Kilda Festival, get into Captain Baxter, St Kilda’s best cocktail bar. The views from the St Kilda rooftop deck bar are magnificent to match the vibe. Republica is also epic where you can party in one of Melbourne’s best beer gardens (we call it the Courtyard) or enjoy the casual seating and iconic swing chairs on the beach bar as you watch the festivities on St Kilda Beach.

Captain Baxter hosted the annual Together St Kilda Festival Party to celebrate Soda Shades 2nd birthday, up on the Sea Baths rooftop. Thanks to our amazing partnership with Grey Goose, the rooftop become a French Riviera style set up, making it feel like a European summer setting.

With the sun shining and breeze blowing, you couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day for cracking open a crisp cold can of Bertie apple cider, and cheersing to summer on the beach deck and Melbourne’s favourite rooftop bar.

Every year Republica has a gold coin donation entry in to the courtyard to raise money for a charity, with this year all funds going toward the Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund for the Australian bushfires. St Kilda’s best live music was playing in the courtyard all day from 1pm, with a special guest appearance by YO! MAFIA, who had people dancing on tables and singing their hearts out.

As the sun set on the day, the cool change definitely didn’t scare anyone away, as we continued to celebrate well into the night. With the festival main stage right next door, it was hard not to be in the party mood.

If you missed out on this year’s St Kilda Festival celebrations, then not to worry, next year will be here before you know it. We look forward to you joining us for another fantastic event in St Kilda soon.
